Licenses
For RUCKUS IoT Insights to operate, the installation requires the purchase and installation of the correct licenses. The licenses can be purchased through your RUCKUS channel partner and are installed on theRUCKUS IoT Controller.
RUCKUS IoT Insights interacts with the RUCKUS IoT Controller for the valid licenses. After validation of the licenses, IoT Insights enables the services as required.
The table above shows an example of the licenses that may be purchased and installed on the IoT controller.
- FEATURE-IOT-INSIGHTS - This license is required to enable Insights.
- INSTANCE-IOTC - This license is required to enable the IoT controller features.
- CAPACITY-IOT-SRIG-AP - This is a special license required to enable the RUCKUS or Rigado IoT Gateway Connector. If the RUCKUS or Rigado connector is not used this license is NOT required.
- CAPACITY-IOT-050 - This is a connected device license and is required to support up to 50 connected devices.

The Licensed Gateways tile (blue) shows the number of licensed third-party IoT gateways that are supported by the RUCKUS IoT Insights platform. By default, these licenses are not needed for normal operation with a RUCKUS IoT Gateway or AP or a Samsung SmartThings gateway, but they are needed with partner Docker container gateways such as Rigado. For each Rigado gateway installed, managed, and provisioned on RUCKUS IoT Insights, there must be a gateway license installed.
The IoT Devices tile (purple) shows the number of licenses used to manage, install, and monitor IoT sensors and to onboard and log them within the IoT Insights platform. These licenses are purchased in blocks of 250 devices and will be required for each device onboarded into Insights and for data to be logged for that device.
The Solutions tile (light blue) shows the number of applications (installed from the Insights Marketplace) that provide analysis, graphing, and management of event data from devices. These solutions provide the ability to manage, monitor, analyze, and act upon conditions and events provided by IoT sensors. These solutions are vertical or application-specific capabilities that are able to provide value and insight into the operation of the IoT domain. You can only install a licensed solution if you have sufficient Solutions licenses available. An Insights Instance License includes one Solutions license and is provided for the duration of the installation.
