CLI Banner Configuration

RUCKUS ICX devices can be configured to display a greeting message on users’ terminals when they enter the Privileged EXEC CLI level.

Setting a Message of the Day Banner

Use the banner motd command to configure the RUCKUS ICX device to display a message on a user terminal when a CLI session (for example, SSH or console) is established. The banner motd command allows you to define a delimiting character to be used at the beginning and end of the text to be used as the banner. The delimiting character cannot appear in the message and can be any character except a double quotation mark ( " ). The dollar sign ( $ ) is used as the delimiting character in the following example. The banner text can be up to 4,000 characters long and can contain multiple lines.

For example, to display the message “Welcome to ICX!” when a console or SSH CLI session is established, enter the following commands.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# banner motd $
Enter text message. End with character '$'.
Welcome to ICX!$
device(config)#

Use the no banner motd command to remove the banner.
