Virtual Cable Testing
The Virtual Cable Test (VCT) is a cable
diagnostic feature within the physical layer (PHY) used for detecting cable faults
and serving
as a diagnostic tool.
VCT technology diagnoses a conductor (wire or cable) by sending a pulsed signal into the conductor and then examining the reflection of that pulse. This method of cable analysis is known as Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR). By analyzing the reflection, the RUCKUS device can detect and report cable statistics, such as local and remote link pairs and link status.
