Setting Up the Secondary RND Node

To set up the secondary RND node, complete the following steps.
  1. Complete the VM image import and VM instance bootup, as described in Setting Up the Virtual Machine Using VMware ESXi.
  2. Log in to the RND console. Refer to Logging In to the RUCKUS Network Director Console.
  3. Configure the network settings. Refer to Setting Up the Network.
  4. Set up the primary RND node. Refer to Setting Up the Primary RND Node.
  5. Set up the secondary RND node by entering the IP address of the primary node (only IPv4 is supported) and press Enter on the node configuration page of the setup wizard.

  6. Configure the following settings:
    • Host Name: Enter a name for the secondary RND node. Make sure that the primary node and secondary node have different names.
    • OS Admin password: Set the password to log in to the RND command line.
    • OS Admin password again: Reconfirm the OS admin password.
    • NTP Server: Specify the NTP server you want to use. Otherwise, press Enter to choose the default RUCKUS NTP server and continue.

  7. Type Yes or yes and press Enter to apply the settings.

    A RND cluster with two RND nodes has been successfully set up. You can log in to the web page by combining the IP address of either node with port 8443; for example, https://192.168.1.116:8443 or https://192.168.1.155:8443.

    Note: During an upgrade, make sure that both the primary node and the secondary node are upgraded.
    When the user configures two IP addresses in the DHCP server, all APs will receive the DHCP option 43 list in the order in which the IP addresses were entered. The AP will contact the first IP address, and only if the first IP address is not available, the AP will contact the second IP address.
    The details of the configured cluster can be monitored in the user interface. For more information, refer to "Monitoring the Cluster" in the RUCKUS Network Director User Guide.
