ICX 8200 Stack Configuration Overview

The following table provides an overview of ICX 8200 stacking capabilities.

ICX 8200 Stacking Capability

Stacking Capability ICX 8200 Additional Information
Topologies supported Ring and linear Refer to ICX 8200 stacking topologies for more information.
Maximum stack size 12 Stacking only.
Maximum stacking distance

40 kilometers

Refer to FastIron stacking distances and optics by device for more information.
ICX 8200 model combinations Allowed (all models) ICX 8200 models can be combined in the same stack.
Stacking ports

4 X 25 Gbps or 2 X 10 Gbps

ICX 8200-C08PF / C08ZP/ C08PFV: ports 1/2/1 to 1/2/2

ICX 8200-24FX: ports 1/2/1 to 1/2/8

All other ICX 8200-24 and ICX 8200-48 models: ports 1/2/1 to 1/2/4

Stacking port speeds are auto-detect.

Valid-stack-port sets

ICX 8200-C08PF / C08ZP / C08PFV: (x/2/1, x/2/2, 1)

ICX 8200-24 / 24P / 24ZP / 24F / 24PV / 48 / 48F / 48P / 48PF / 48PF2 / 48ZP2: (x/2/1, x/2/3, 2)

ICX 8200-24FX: (x/2/1, x/2/3, 2) (x/2/5, x/2/7, 2)

Note: The third number in the set is the maximum number of ports in a stacking trunk. The number "1" indicates a single stack-port only.

Refer to the definition of valid-stack-port set in Stacking terminology for more information.

Refer to ICX 8200 Stacking Topology for port locations.

Reconfigurable ports Use the stack-port and stack-trunk commands to reconfigure ports. Stacking port speeds are auto-detect and cannot be configured.
Trunks

The following maximum stacking trunk configurations are supported:

ICX 8200-C08PF/C08PFV/ C08ZP: no stack-trunk

ICX 8200-24FX: stack-trunk 1/2/1 to 1/2/2, stack-trunk 1/2/3 to 1/2/4, stack-trunk 1/2/5 to 1/2/6 and stack-trunk 1/2/7 to 1/2/8

All other ICX 8200-24 and ICX 8200-48 models: stack-trunk 1/2/1 to 1/2/4

See also "Linear-topology trunks" in this table.
Linear-topology trunks The following maximum linear-topology trunks are supported:

ICX 8200-C08PF / C08ZP / C08PFV: 2-port linear-topology-trunk: stack-trunk x/2/1 to x/2/2

ICX 8200-24FX: 4-port linear-topology-trunk: stack-trunk x/2/1 to x/2/4, stack-trunk x/2/5 to x/2/8

ICX 8200-24 / 24F / 24P / 24ZP / 24PV / 48 / 48F / 48P / 48ZP2 / 48PF / 48PF2: 4-port linear-topology-trunk: stack-trunk x/2/1 to x/2/4

Refer to Configuring Two-unit Stack Linear-topology Trunks for more information.

Hitless switchover and hitless failover Supported Refer to Hitless stacking.
License requirements

All ICX 8200 devices include a license for 10-Gbps or 25-Gbps stacking.

For more information on ICX 8200 license options, refer to the RUCKUS FastIron Software Licensing Guide.
Configuration options Manual and automatic, including stack interactive-setup and stack zero-touch provisioning Refer to Stack construction methods.
Access methods TFTP, SCP Software images, boot images, and signatures can be downloaded to a stack using TFTP and SCP applications. Refer to the RUCKUS FastIron Software Upgrade Guide for more information.
Stacking commands All stacking CLI is supported on ICX 8200 devices unless otherwise stated on the command reference page.
