Handling Stack-Port and Stack-Trunk Mismatches in ICX 8100 and ICX 8200
When configuring stacking on ICX 8100 or ICX 8200 switches, it is important to ensure proper alignment between stack-port and stack-trunk connections. Misconfigurations can lead to error-disabled ports.
Mismatch Behavior
The following describes platform-specific behavior when stack connections are improperly configured.
-
If a stack-port is connected to a stack-trunk, the second port of the stack-trunk becomes error-disabled.
-
This behavior is specific to ICX 8100 and ICX 8200 platforms.

configuration and clearly identify any ports that are disabled due to mismatches
or
unsupported connections.

To correct a live mismatched link (stack-port to stack-trunk) identify the affected stack unit and apply the correct configuration depending on the port-to-port connections or trunk-to-trunk connections, using the following commands.
device# configure terminal device(config)# stack unit 1 device(config-unit-1)# multi-stack-port ethernet 1/2/1 and ethernet 2/2/1 device(config-unit-1)# multi-stack-trunk ethernet 1/2/3 to 1/2/4 and ethernet 2/2/3 to 2/2/4
