Golden Image

Beginning with FastIron release 10.0.00, the Golden image is only supported on ICX 8100 and ICX 8200 devices.

A Golden image is a stable, thoroughly tested Unified Firmware Image (UFI) specific to a device. It serves as a fallback image if the device goes offline or if recent updates cause the device to function differently than intended. Once installed on a device the Golden image cannot be modified.

The golden_image.ufi file is stored in the Golden image partition located at /golden_image/ on the flash memory. You can boot the device from the Golden image using either:

  • U-Boot commands
  • FastIron Command Line Interface (CLI) commands

In a stacking setup, connection to the specific member switch is required to use the Golden image.

Note: When FIPS mode is enabled, the image cannot be updated from uboot or OS prompt.
