Creating and Modifying an IP Performance Metrics Profile
IP Performance Metrics (IPPM) is enabled
by default. However, the monitoring of metrics is based on the test profiles configured.
You
must create a test profile in order to use IPPM.
The following task creates an IPPM profile called "test1" and configures these profile settings:
- Enter global configuration mode.
- Configure an IPPM test profile. This example creates an IPPM test profile named "test1" and places the device in IPPM profile configuration mode.
- Configure the target host for the IPPM profile. This example configures the target host for the IPPM profile as IP address 10.1.1.1, and the source IPv4 address from where the test is triggered as 10.2.2.2. The source IP should belong to one of the routing interfaces on the switch.
- (Optional) Configure the maximum
allowable jitter for the IPPM profile and configure the probe count. This example configures the maximum allowable jitter for the IPPM profile to 12 milliseconds. A probe count 5 is configured.
- (Optional) Configure the minimum
and maximum RTT.This example configures an RTT range of 20 to 30 milliseconds.
- (Optional) Configure the minimum
and maximum time to live (TTL) values. This example configures a TTL range of 30 to 40 milliseconds for the IPPM profile.
- (Optional) Start an IPPM test,
specifying the time and date for the test to finish and the interval period
between tests. This example starts an IPPM test immediately for the IPPM profile and specifies the time and date for the test to finish. It also specifies that the test will begin again after sixty seconds.
The following example creates an IPPM profile called "test1". It also configures a target host for the IPPM profile, and configures the jitter, RTT, and TTL values for that profile. It also starts an IPPM test immediately for the IPPM profile, specifies the time and date for the test to finish, and configures the interval period between scheduled tests.
