Diagnosing a Cable Using Time Domain Reflectometry

The following task diagnoses a cable using Virtual Cable Test (VCT) Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR).

Follow these steps to diagnose a cable using VCT TDR.

Clear any previous VCT TDR test results on the specified port.
```
device# clear cable-diagnostics tdr 1/2/3
```
It is recommended to clear the VCT TDR test registers before each test.

Run the VCT TDR test on the specified port.
```
device# phy cable-diagnostics tdr 1/2/3
```
When using the phy cable-diagnostics command, the port briefly goes down for one or two seconds and then immediately comes back up.

The following example clears previous TDR test results for a port and runs the VCT TDR test on the specified port.

device# clear cable-diagnostics tdr 1/2/3
device# phy cable-diagnostics tdr 1/2/3
