neighbor maximum-prefix

Specifies the maximum number of IP network prefixes (routes) that can be learned from a specified neighbor or peer group.
Syntax
neighbor { ip-address | ipv6-address | peer-group-name } maximum-prefix num [ threshold ] [ teardown ]
no neighbor { ip-address | ipv6-address | peer-group-name } maximum-prefix num [ threshold ] [ teardown ]
Command Default

The maximum number of IP network prefixes that can be learned from a specified neighbor or peer group is not configured.

Parameters
ip-address
Specifies the IPv4 address of the neighbor.
ipv6-address
Specifies the IPv6 address of the neighbor.
peer-group-name
Specifies the peer group name configured by the neighbor peer-group-name command.
num
Specifies the maximum number of IP prefixes that can be learned. Range is from 0 through 4294967295. Default is 0 (unlimited).
threshold
Specifies the percentage of the value specified by num that causes a syslog message to be generated. Range is from 1 through 100. Default is 100.
teardown
Tears down the neighbor session if the maximum number of IP prefixes is exceeded.

Usage Guidelines

When this command is entered in BGP global configuration mode, it applies only to the IPv4 address family. Use this command in BGP address-family IPv6 unicast configuration mode for BGP4+ configurations. Use this command in BGP L2VPN EVPN address family configuration mode for BGP L2VPN EVPN configurations.

This command can be configured in BGP L2VPN EVPN address family configuration mode for RUCKUS ICX 7850 and ICX 7550 devices only. For the BGP L2VPN EVPN address family, the default value is set to the supported EVPN route scale number, including all route types.

The no form of the command removes the configured maximum number of IP network prefixes that can be learned from a specified neighbor or peer group.

Examples

The following example sets the maximum number of prefixes that will be accepted from the neighbor with the IP address 10.11.12.13 to 100000, and sets the threshold value to 80%.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# router bgp
device(config-bgp-router)# neighbor 10.11.12.13 maximum-prefix 100000 80

The following example sets the maximum number of prefixes that will be accepted from the neighbor with the IP address 10.1.1.35 to 100000, and sets the threshold value to 80%.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# router bgp
device(config-bgp-router)# local-as 656
device(config-bgp-router)# neighbor 10.1.1.35 remote-as 656
device(config-bgp-router)# address-family l2vpn evpn
device(config-bgp-l2vpn-evpn)# neighbor 10.1.1.35 activate
device(config-bgp-l2vpn-evpn)# neighbor 10.1.1.35 send-community both
device(config-bgp-l2vpn-evpn)# neighbor 10.1.1.35 maximum-prefix 100000 80
