es-type

Configures an Ethernet-Segment (ES) type for an ethernet segment within the Layer 2 Virtual Private Network (L2VPN) configuration.
Syntax
es-type { type-0 unique-ascii-string | type-1 lacp-mac-addr port-key-value | type-3 mac-addr local-discriminator }
no es-type { type-0 unique-ascii-string | type-1 lacp-mac-addr port-key-value | type-3 mac-addr local-discriminator }
Command Default

No ES type is configured.

Parameters
type-0
Specifies the ES type as type 0.
unique-ascii-string
Specifies the unique ASCII string for the segment identifier. This consists of a MAC address and a local discriminator.
type-1
Specifies the ES type as type 1.
lacp-mac-addr
Specifies the Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) MAC address.
port-key-value
Specifies the LACP port key value.
type-3 mac-addr local-discriminator
Specifies the ES type as type 3.
mac-addr
Specifies a MAC address.
local-discriminator
Specifies a local discriminator.
Modes

ES configuration mode

Usage Guidelines

The type 0 ES is used for scenarios requiring manual configuration of the Ethernet Segment Identifier (ESI), which can be up to a maximum of 9 bytes in length. The MAC address used in the ESI can be the system MAC address of the device. The local discriminator is a unique 3-byte value used alongside the MAC address to uniquely identify the Ethernet Segment within the network.

The type 1 ES is used for scenarios where the ESI is automatically computed. For a type 1 ES, you must configure LACP MAC address and LACP port key value that will be shared with the Customer Edge (CE) device.

The type 3 ES is used for scenarios where the ESI is automatically computed. It is required to configure the system MAC address of the device and a unique local discriminator value so that the ESI value is auto-computed.

This command is supported for RUCKUS ICX 7850 and ICX 7550 devices only.

The no form of the command removes an ES and all configurations for that ES for the L2VPN.

Examples

The following example configures an ES type 0 using L2VPN EVPN. A local discriminator (11:22:33:44:55:66:77:88:99) is configured, and a MAC address (4444.5555.6666) is specified. The local discriminator value for ES value is set to 100. These identifiers uniquely identify the ES type 0 within the network configuration.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# l2vpn evpn
device(config-evpn)# ethernet-segment 1
device(config-evpn-es-1)# es-type type-0 11:22:33:44:55:66:77:88:99 4444.5555.6666 100

The following example configures an ES type 1 using L2VPN EVPN. A LACP MAC address (4444.5555.6666) and a LACP port key (123) are specified to define the characteristics of the Ethernet Segment.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# l2vpn evpn
device(config-evpn)# ethernet-segment 1
device(config-evpn-es-1)# es-type type-1 4444.5555.6666 123

The following example configures an ES type 3 using L2VPN EVPN. A MAC address (4444.5555.6666) and a local discriminator (123) are specified to define the characteristics of the Ethernet Segment.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# l2vpn evpn
device(config-evpn)# ethernet-segment 1
device(config-evpn-es-1)# es-type type-3 4444.5555.6666 123
