Upgrading an Instance License

You can upgrade from one type of Instance license to another depending on your feature requirements. Refer to the section Device License to help you decide the type of Instance license to upgrade.

The RUCKUS IoT Controller allows the upgrade of the following types of Instance licenses:

  • Upgrading from Base to Premium: If you have a Base license installed and want to gain access to connected devices, you can purchase a Premium license and upload it to the controller. The RUCKUS IoT Controller detects the new license and ignores the previous Base license.
  • Upgrading from Base to Insights: If you have a Base license installed and want to access IoT Insights features, you can purchase an Insights license and upload it to the controller. The RUCKUS IoT Controller detects the new license and ignores the previous Base license.
  • Upgrading from Premium to Insights: If you have a Premium license installed and want access to IoT Insights features, connected devices, and plugins, you can purchase an Insights license and upload it to the controller. The RUCKUS IoT Controller detects the new license and ignores the previous Premium license.
