Switch Configuration Profiles
RUCKUS One provides a simpler way of automatically configuring the switches using Switch Configuration profiles.
The following is the recommended way to get a switch up and running:
In this section:
- Adding a Configuration ProfileConfiguration profiles allow you to define the VLANs for switch models of your choice and Access Control Lists (ACLs). Once defined, these switch profiles can be applied to one or more venues. Any switch joining a venue will have the defined configuration applied automatically. You can create switch configuration profiles and attach these profiles to venues as required. When a switch is registered on RUCKUS One under this venue comes online, it inherits all the configuration.
- Editing a Switch Configuration ProfileYou can edit a switch configuration profile that you have created and applied to a venue.
- Deleting a Switch Configuration ProfileYou can delete the switch configuration profile that you have created and applied to a venue
- Adding and Managing a Regular Switch Configuration Profile
- Understanding the CLI Configuration
ProfileA Command Line Interface (CLI) configuration profile is used to streamline and automate the configuration of RUCKUS ICX switches.
- Editing a Regular ProfileFrom the RUCKUS One web interface, you can edit a regular switch configuration profile.
- Adding and Managing a CLI Configuration
TemplateUsing the On-demand CLI configuration feature, you can add a CLI template. The configuration applied using CLI templates gets appended to the existing configuration of the selected switches.
- Editing a PortYou can select a switch from the venue and edit ports of the switch.
- Adding VLAN Interfaces (VEs) You can select a switch from a venue and add Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) interfaces, otherwise known as Virtual Ethernets (VEs), to it.
- Managing a Switch LAGYou can manage a Link Aggregation Group (LAG) for a specific RUCKUS ICX switch, including adding, editing, and deleting a LAG.
- Managing a LAGYou can select a switch from a venue and manage the LAG configuration of the switch.
Existing topic Switch Configuration really needs to also be updated to provide a quick overview/comparison of all three switch config options:
• Regular Switch Configuration Profile
• CLI Configuration Profile
• On-Demand CLI Configuration
The topic update could be a simple 3-column table that highlights the similarities and differences of the three switch config options, then cross-references off to the applicable feature-specific feature concept topics and task topics.
