New in this Release

This section provides a high-level overview of several key features that are introduced in the RUCKUS Edge software release.

The following are the key features in RUCKUS Edge 2.3.0 release.

Key Features and Enhancements

Feature Description
MulticastDNS/Bonjour Gateway The RUCKUS Edge mDNS gateway feature enables clients on different VLANs to discover and access mDNS/Bonjour services (such as AirPlay, AirPrint, and Chromecast) through intelligent service announcement redistribution. This feature selectively forwards service advertisements across network boundaries according to administrator-defined policies, allowing devices to find and connect to services regardless of VLAN segmentation while maintaining network security and efficiency. The mDNS/Bonjour Forwarding Service is applicable only for SD-LAN.
ARP Termination The ARP Termination feature facilitates ARP suppression and handles ARP Requests by leveraging a local cache of IP-to-MAC binding data.
Proxmox Hypervisor support Proxmox VE is used to manage virtualized environments for reliable and efficient virtualization capabilities.
Application Visibility The Application visibility feature offers insights into network traffic, aiding administrators in identifying issues and supporting informed decisions to optimize traffic flow and resource allocation.
Traffic Shaping RUCKUS Edge employs HQoS-Driven Egress Scheduling to ensure strict adherence to SLAs, intelligent bandwidth management, LLQ prioritization, and DSCP-based classification, delivering seamless, end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS).
Trusting Tunnel Traffic from AP The Trusting Tunnel Traffic feature is a security mechanism that permits certain types of traffic to traverse a secure tunnel without undergoing additional inspection or filtering.
Personal Identity networks (PIN)

Personal Identity Networks (PIN) use VxLAN tunneling to extend Wi-Fi client access to the RUCKUS Edge, creating seamless connectivity across the network domain. It enables Wi-Fi clients to securely access their networks and connected devices while also establishing Personal Area Networks (PAN) for secure, individualized connectivity. PINs can be configured for any venue that has Property Management enabled and has RUCKUS APs, ICX switches, and RUCKUS Edge devices deployed.

Hitless Upgrade of Edge The RUCKUS Edge cluster, whether in Active-Active or Active-Backup mode, can now perform self-upgrades autonomously, while maintaining minimal service interruptions.
