Resetting the Network

You can modify or reset the network settings after the RND system has been installed and is operational. This allows you to update the system’s network parameters, particularly the IP address, without requiring a full reinstallation or manual intervention outside the RND CLI environment. The network settings can be dynamically reconfigured to adapt to changes in the deployment environment, ensuring continued connectivity and system operation with minimal disruption. To perform the network reset, you can use the system reset-network command available in the RND CLI.
Consider the following points before resetting the network:
  • The system reset-network command is supported only on single-node deployments.
  • In a clustered environment (RND cluster), changing the IP address using this command may cause loss of connectivity between nodes and could result in cluster instability.
  • The IP version setting (IPv4 or IPv4 and IPv6) confgured during initial setup remains fixed and cannot be changed using the system reset-network command.
  • Ensure that the new IP address is not already assigned to another device on the network, as the system does not automatically detect IP conflicts.

To reset the network settings, complete the following steps.

  1. Complete the VM image import and VM instance bootup, as described in Setting Up the Virtual Machine Using VMware ESXi.
  2. Log in to the RND console. Refer to Logging In to the RUCKUS Network Director Console.
  3. Enter the system reset-network command to reset the network settings.

The setup wizard is initiated where you can reset the network.

Note: You are about to reconfigure the network settings. Once you apply these changes, the system will automatically reboot.
Please make sure all necessary tasks are saved and proceed with caution.

  4. When prompted, reselect the previously configured IP version setting for the current node and press Enter to continue.
Note: The IP version setting (IPv4 or IPv4 and IPv6) selected during initial setup cannot be changed during network reset.
In the example, option 1 (IPv4) is selected.

  5. Specify the method by which the IP address should be obtained and press Enter to continue.
You can choose either DHCP to automate the process of assigning an IP address for the node or you can manually assign a static IP address.

In the example, option 2 (Manual) is selected.

The new network settings take effect after a controlled restart of network services. The RND system automatically reboots to apply the updated network configuration, ensuring that the system and all related services operate correctly under the new IP address. After the reboot, the system resumes operation with the newly configured IP address.
