Cloudpath QCOW2 Image for AWS and GCP
Before uploading the Quick Emulator (QEMU) Copy On Write Version 2 image of Cloudpath to a cloud provider like Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), you must first boot the image natively in Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) on a Linux host. The first boot is critical for Cloudpath, and questions like hostname, IP information, password, time zone, and so on must be entered for Cloudpath to complete the initial installation and application setup. The configuration questions need to be entered via the VM console. Once the first boot questions are completed and the VM is set up and running, power down the VM in VMM. Upload the image to GCP or AWS and allow it to be translated into the native format for the specific cloud service. Skipping the pre-boot configuration and directly uploading the image may not work. This can lead to issues as the disk translation process during boot expects input, which can cause corruption if the image has not been booted locally first. If you encounter problems, you will need to start over with a fresh QCOW2 image. You do not require an activation code to answer the first boot questions. These questions are handled via the console and are part of the initial setup process. Once the translated disk is booted in GCP or AWS, you can then enter an activation code via the admin web GUI or you can cannibalize upgrade from a release 5.X Cloudpath ES system.
