IPv6 Neighbor Discovery Configuration
Neighbor Discover (ND) for IPv6 uses IPv6 ICMP messages to perform the following tasks:
- Determine the link-layer address of a neighbor on the same link.
- Verify that a neighbor is reachable.
- Track neighbor devices.
An IPv6 host is required to listen for and recognize the following addresses that identify itself:
- Link-local address
- Assigned unicast address
- Loopback address
- All-nodes multicast address
- Solicited-node multicast address
- Multicast address to all other groups to which it belongs
