    Self-Authenticated Upgrade (SAU) licensing allows you to upgrade or downgrade to a licensed feature set with a single command. The license install command replaces other licensing commands for installing or deleting a license. You no longer need to install a license file using TFTP or SCP.

    Some RUCKUS ICX devices come with feature licenses pre-installed. For devices that do not have pre-installed licenses, you can purchase licenses separately for the features or feature sets you want to use.

  7. Upgrading from FastIron 08.0.70 or Earlier to 09.0.10a or Later
    Beginning in FastIron 08.0.80, the Self-Authenticated Upgrade (SAU) licensing model was implemented on all the RUCKUS ICX platforms. When upgrading from FastIron 08.0.70 or earlier, existing software feature licenses on the device will be converted to SAU licenses. The original XML licenses are preserved on the system in case the switch is downgraded to an earlier version that requires them.
  8. Downgrading from FastIron 09.0.10a or Later to 08.0.70 or Earlier
    When downgrading from FastIron 09.0.10a or later to 08.0.70 or earlier on an ICX 7650, licensed features will be lost unless there is a pre-installed XML license on the device. Licensed features that have an XML license will be retained during the downgrade.
