Configuring 1G Breakout Ports

The following example configures a breakout subport and changes the breakout port speed to 1-Gbps. No reload is required for the new subport speed to take effect. .
  1. Enter global configuration mode
    device# configure terminals
  2. Configure the breakout port.
    device(config)# breakout ethernet 1/2/1
    device(config)#exit
    device# write memory
    device# reload
  3. Configure the speed-duplex 1000-full on a breakout subport, and configure the subport to use the manually configured speed.
    device# configure terminals
    device(config)# interface ethernet 1/2/1:2
    device(config-if-e25000-1/2/1:2)# speed-duplex 1000-full
    device(config-if-e25000-1/2/1:2)# gig-default neg-off
Note: The RUCKUS ICX 7550-24F, ICX 7550-48F, ICX 7550-24ZP, and ICX 7550-48ZP models require configuring the slot 2 uplink-100g to enable breakout ports.

The following example configures a breakout port, changes the speed of breakout subport 2 to 1 Gbps, and configures subport 2 to use the manually configured speed.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# breakout ethernet 1/2/1
device(config)#exit
device# write memory
device# reload
device# configure terminal
device(config)# interface ethernet 1/2/1:2
device(config-if-e25000-1/2/1:2)# speed-duplex 1000-full
device(config-if-e25000-1/2/1:2)# gig-default neg-off
Note: In fiber platforms, the gig-default neg-off command is not supported but 1G breakout is supported.
