Setting the Bandwidth Value for an Ethernet Interface
The current bandwidth value for an Ethernet interface can be set and communicated
to higher-level protocols such as OSPF.
- Enter the
configure terminalcommand to access global configuration mode. - Enter the
interface ethernetcommand to configure an Ethernet interface and enter interface configuration mode. - Enter the
bandwidthcommand and specify a value to set the bandwidth value on the interface.
This example sets the bandwidth to 2000 kbps on a specific Ethernet interface.
device# configure terminal device(config)# interface ethernet 1/1/1 device(config-if-e1000-1/1/1)# bandwidth 2000
The bandwidth specified in this example results in the following OSPF cost, assuming the auto-cost is 100:
OSPF cost is equal to ((100 * 1000) + (2000 - 1)/ 2000) = 50
