Configuring the Bootfile URL (Option 59) for the DHCPv6 Server

The URL of the bootfile used by the DHCPv6 client during the boot process can be configured on the DHCPv6 server. The following task specifies the URL of the bootfile used by the DHCPv6 client during the boot process for all DHCPv6 address pools.
  1. Enter global configuration mode by issuing the configure terminal command.
    device# configure terminal
  2. Enable the DHCPv6 server.
    device(config)# ipv6 dhcp6-server enable
  3. Specify the URL of the bootfile that will be used by the DHCPv6 client during the boot process.
    device(config-dhcp6)# bootfile-url tftp://[2001:db8::46]/sample_day0_script.py

The following example specifies the URL of the bootfile used by the DHCPv6 client during the boot process for all DHCPv6 address pools.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# ipv6 dhcp6-server enable
device(config-dhcp6)# bootfile-url tftp://[2001:db8::46]/sample_day0_script.py

The following example specifies the URL of the bootfile used by the DHCPv6 client during the boot process for a specified subnet within the DHCPv6 server.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# ipv6 dhcp6-server enable
device(config-dhcp6)# subnet6 2021::/64
device(config-dhcp6-subnet)# bootfile-url tftp://[2001:db8::46]/sample_day0_script.py

The following example specifies the URL via HTTPS of the bootfile used by the DHCPv6 client during the boot process for all DHCPv6 address pools.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# ipv6 dhcp6-server enable
device(config-dhcp6)# bootfile-url https://[2001:db8::46]/sample_day0_script.py

The following example specifies the URL via HTTPS of the bootfile used by the DHCPv6 client during the boot process for a specified subnet within the DHCPv6 server.

device# configure terminal
device(config)# ipv6 dhcp6-server enable
device(config-dhcp6)# subnet6 2021::/64
