DHCPv6 Client
In this section:
- DHCPv6 Client
- DHCPv6 Stateful ClientThe Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for IPv6 (DHCPv6) stateful client allows an ICX device to obtain an IPv6 address and other configuration parameters, such as domain name server (DNS) and domain search list, from a DHCPv6 server.
- DHCPv6 Stateless ClientThe Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for IPv6 (DHCPv6) stateless client allows a device to obtain network configuration parameters, such as domain name server (DNS) and domain search list, from a DHCPv6 server without obtaining an IPv6 address from the server. Instead, the IPv6 address is auto-configured using Router Advertisements (RA).
- Configuring a Peer Device for DHCPv6 Address
Auto-configurationTo configure a peer router for stateful and stateless Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for IPv6 (DHCPv6) address auto-configuration, you need to set specific parameters on the interface. The following task configures a peer router for stateful DHCPv6 address auto-configuration.
- Enabling the DHCPv6 ClientThe following task configures the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for IPv6 (DHCPv6) client device.
- DHCPv6 Auto-provisioning DHCPv6 auto-provisioning is used to automate the process of network image upgrades and configuration updates.
- Re-enabling DHCPv6 Auto-provisioningWhen you re-enable the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for IPv6 (DHCPv6) auto-provisioning, an ICX device automatically upgrades its network image and configuration using parameters provided by a DHCPv6 server. DHCPv6 auto-provisioning is enabled by default. The following task re-enables the DHCPv6 auto-provisioning service for a peer device if it has been disabled.
